This workshop is co-located with the AAMAS conference. I have had a strong association with the workshop over the years. In my PhD student days, I looked forward to this workshop more than the AAMAS conference as I received a lot of feedback after paper presentations. It has a reputation of generating a lot of informal discussions after the presentations. The workshop provided a sense of community which I have always appreciated. This still remains one of my go-to venues. The connections I had developed through this workshop have been quite useful for my career (reflecting after 15 years since my first COINE workshop!). The quality of the papers in the workshop is good. The post-proceedings of the workshop is with Springer LNCS. This workshop is particularly nurturing for PhD students and early career researchers. This event is well-attended by senior researchers working in the COINE area (Coordination, Organisation, Institutions, Norms and Ethics) of multi-agent systems. I would enthusiastically recommend this to anyone working in the COINE topics!

COINE (formerly COIN, but E for Ethics added a few years ago to indicate a widening of its scope) is typically co-located with the annual AAMAS conference. I was one of the founders of the COIN(E) series starting in 2005 and have presented work here most years. COIN(E) provides a strong, vibrant community which has nurtured an important strand of multiagent systems research and equally important, multiagent systems researchers. Paper quality is good and the quality of the reviewing is high. In line with an emerging trend in some arenas of academic publication the approach taken is to help develop work towards a quality publication through the experience of the workshop and its discussions rather than simple gate-keeping, so that the papers in the post-proceedings LNCS publication are overall of a high standard. The event attracts both senior researchers in the field as well as PhD students (one of the co-organizers is typically a PhD student by intention). Participation is a positive experience.
