Next to ICSE this is the most highly rated conference in the field. It makes no sense to have it B-ranked.

Clearly this is a A conference. It makes no sense to rank ESEC/FSE as B

One of the top 5 conferences in Software Engineering. Why it is classified as B??

ESEC/FSE is second only to ICSE in the field of Software Engineering (and a close second at that!). It should be an A* conference, just like ICSE. Furthermore, having looked at the data above used to rank ESEC/FSE as "B", I see that the google scholar ranking used is "Engineering/General", instead of "Software Systems": https://scholar.google.com.au/citations?view_op=top_venues&hl=en&vq=eng_softwaresystems In this ranking, which includes journals and conferences in Software Engineering and Programming Languages, FSE is ranked much higher, and is indeed the second Software Engineering conference behind ICSE.
