Excellent SE journal with steadily increasing Impact Factor (if that really matters to you...).

In terms of impact factor (whether 2 or 5 years, the latter being more stable and trustworthy in my opinion), over many years now, this journal has consistently fared better than TOSEM and is comparable to TSE. If you look at this year's impact factor (2 years), it is even better than TSE and it is not the first time. This journal also publishes a large number of articles per year, around 50. I don't see any rational reason why its ranking should be below the one of TOSEM or TSE.

High quality papers that attract lots of citations.

EMSE is an excellent journal with a high impact factor that publish many high quality papers. Papers published in EMSE (as journal first papers) can be presented in a number of excellent conferences, e.g., ICSE (CORE-2017 A* conference), FSE, and ICSME. ICSE-2018 only have three journal partners: TOSEM (ERA-2010 A* journal), TSE (ERA-2010 A* journal), and EMSE. Thus, I think EMSE should be ranked as high as TOSEM and TSE in the upcoming CORE ranking.

Professional, fast turn-around, good reviews and for me core in terms of subject area.

SE research is now expected to have empirical validation, and this is thanks to venues such as EMSE. It has now grown (since at least a decade, if not more) to be one of the top three journals by reputation in the SE field, along with TSE and TOSEM. In fact, TSE and EMSE are routinely trading the first spot in terms of impact factor.

Journal with fast review process and top-quality reviews. Exactly what good science needs.

Top-quality journal with excellent papers, valuable and constructive reviews, and high impact factor. Papers published in EMSE are also eligible for presentation in the technical research track of excellent SE conferences in the scope of the journal-first initiative.

SE community already considers EMSE a top-journal with high impact. Consistently growing, stable stats over the years is a supporting factor. Quality standards for EMSE are very high, as expected from an outstanding journal. There is no doubt EMSE is in the same league with IEEE TSE and ACM TOSEM - it would be great to see that this is reflected in CORE rankings.

The world's leading archival journal for empirical research on software engineering. A critical source leading the transformation of software development into an empirically-based engineering discipline. Very demanding in the quality of research selected for publication.

Impact factor wise, in the last years this excellent journal outweighs TOSEM and is comparable to TSE. It is also great that journal first papers can be presented at ICSE.

EMSE should be considered as the leading journal in software engineering. EMSE offers efficient review processes and high delivers quality reviews. It should be ranked at least at the same level as TSE and TOSEM.

EMSE definitely deserves to be ranked at the same level as TSE and TOSEM. Nowadays many Departments and Funding Organization rank journals based on their impact factors. As such, EMSE is on par with IEEE TSE and even better than ACM TOSEM. Therefore, at least it should be ranked similarly to the other two top software engineering journals. In addition, EMSE really cares about very fast review turnaround, and EMSE associated editors are always required to provide very clear guidelines to authors. This really eases papers' revision process and makes the whole reviewing process fast, clear, and deterministic.

Rigorous reviews, great set of editors and reviewers, outstanding management – and finally, great and impactful papers! TSE, TOSEM, and EMSE are the three top journals in Software Engineering.

I also support the advancement to A*. One of the very best journals in the software engineering domain. In addition to the aforementioned rigour of the reviewing process, articles published in this journal are eligible for presentation at the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE, A*).
