Have considered this journal after it was brought to my attention that it has been ranked A by CORE. Submitted one paper that did not get reviewed after a long long time, until we just gave up. The PhD student who wrote also didn't want to pursue it. A more alarming issue is how they handle plagiarism. We recently spotted our work being copied wholesale in an accepted paper without citing our paper. After running the article through TurnItIn, it came out with 48% similarity - something that would raise a red flag immediately. We informed the EIC about our work being plagiarised, which he then contacted the author. The author came back with a lame excuse, blaming his student assistant. The EIC then asked the editorial staff to fix our issue, and nothing else. What about the other parts that were highlighted by TurnItIn? Surely, a 48% similarity warrants some further investigation. First of all, when we first contacted the EIC, he claimed to have done a plagiarism check and missed it - amazing!!! We provided the TurnItIn output for him showing 48% similarity and he does nothing else except fix our complaint, which should have been spotted much earlier if they had done a plagiarism check. This article in particular was accepted without any revision, an amazing feat these days except those submitted to predatory Open Access journals. Anyway, FGCS may have deserved the A ranking up to 2010, over the years, looking at the papers published there, I have reservations about its A ranking and the poor review process nowadays.
